The WAP service was designed to access hypertext content from handheld terminals. Due to the slow circuit-switched access and the lack of available content, WAP service was initially weakly received. However, the deployment of GPRS/CDMA service and the spread of advanced terminals, has lead to a considerable growth of the carried WAP traffic. WAP performance and service quality must be constantly monitored to insure subscribers have a good perception of the network.

Many data and voice networks have existing performance monitoring tools which provide statistics usually only used for troubleshooting. WAPMAX is capable of finding performance problems that WAP Gateway or MMSC statistics do not show. It can also troubleshoot WAP problems and protocol errors in the mobile and network side. WAP statistics are conversted in to indicators of key performance and service quality. Dynamic reports generated by WAPMAX clearly display technical and business information for use by engineers and marketing departments alike.
