Theta Networks’ solutions now manage more than 40 million data subscribers at China Mobile Sichuan

Keyport, New Jersey, August 10th 2010: Theta Networks, a leading company in optimization and management solutions for mobile data networks, crossed a new major milestone. Theta Networks’ real-time management system for mobile data networks has reached its 40th million mobile data subscriber in the early morning of July 14th.

“We are simply proud to demonstrate the capabilities of the most advanced real-time subscriber and service centric solution in the world so far. This exceptional achievement is mainly due to the intensive work of our R&D team and our engineers, I want to thank them for that” said Kevin Li, Vice President at Theta Networks.

“The most amazing thing here, not only resides in the amount of subscribers and traffic managed by our system but also in the unraveled depth of information we are offering, going from deep network troubleshooting up to high-level marketing reporting and subscriber management capabilities.” added Julien Meunier, Account Director and responsible for worldwide system operations.

Sichuan is one of the biggest provinces for China Mobile in the whole of China, with a total of 90 million subscribers from which 40 million are using mobile data services. Since early 2008 Theta Networks started a local cooperation there which has continuously been augmented due to the increase of both traffic and monitored services.

“From our estimations based on the last two fiscal years, Theta Networks Solutions have helped us handle IP data service related problems which hold 70% of all customer complaints. We are now concentrating in starting the next stage of MSP and focusing our investments on the customer experience (QoE). With the deployment of inter-departmental modules and involving non-technical users we can employ the system for marketing studies, real time VIP subscribers and many other applications. In this regards, Theta Networks is the perfect partner for us due to its high level of technology and attentiveness to its client’s needs” said VP at China Mobile Sichuan.

Theta Networks’ MSP (Modular Service Platform) is a 24x7 real-time system used for long-term monitoring, subscriber management and network performance of HTTP, DNS, WAP, and MMS services. The MSP platform offers large storage capabilities and non-technical user interfaces for external applications and subscriber centric modules (Customer Care Center, VIP & corporate account management module, Provisioning module, Business Intelligence module etc).

Theta Networks to attend IRR’s Mobile Network Optimization 2009 in Brussels on November 9th-12th 2009

With the Telecoms community focusing its attention on Mobile Broadband development, network cost optimization and traffic management, mobile operators worldwide need to concentrate on optimization tools and techniques, as well as radio planning strategies to ensure a high end-to-end QoS.

How are you selecting and implementing advanced optimization tools and techniques?
What can you do to enhance performance measurement?
How are you optimizing and upgrading your core networks?
What are you doing to optimize In-Building coverage?

IIR’s Mobile Network Optimization 2009 will address these questions and provide delegates with the actionable advice needed to implement a successful planning and optimization strategy. Mobile Network Optimization is the industry leading network optimization conference and exhibition and this year it will feature a multi-streamed program with an expert panel of speakers, who will detail strategies for maximizing capacity and coverage in 2G and 3G networks, as well as detailing the migration path for mobile broadband networks.

Theta Networks tackles Mobile Broadband monitoring and optimization

To help operators address the growth of Mobile Broadband, Theta Networks has just released Bro@dMAX, a comprehensive solution for monitoring, analyzing and optimizing subscribers’ data traffic over mobile networks.

Mobile Broadband usage has been increasing tremendously, creating new opportunities and new lines of income for many mobile network operators.  The problematic side of this growth is that in many cases there is a lack of network visibility that prevents proper monitoring of this rise in data traffic.  Without this visibility, it is difficult to manage major issues such as network congestion, poor connectivity, and low throughput.  Bro@dMAX is capable of bridging this gap, allowing mobile network operators to instantly improve their subscribers’ Mobile Broadband QoE(Quality of Experience) by immediately detecting and reacting to problems in the network.

As Mobile Broadband grows rapidly, mobile network operators need a way to adapt to the massive increase in data traffic by understanding precisely how their subscribers perceive the services they use” said Steve Zhu, CEO of Theta Networks. “Traditional monitoring systems are not going to be able to meet the needs of operators anymore, and that is why DPI is becoming a necessity these days”.

Bro@dMAX builds off the user-friendly interface found in all Theta solutions and adds a number of reports, statistics, and KPIs that address the major issues associated with Mobile Broadband optimization such as throughput, radio round trip time, HTTP and DNS performance, and user connectivity.  The product is powered by advanced DPI technology and is meant to be used by mobile network operators to gain a new level of insight into the status of their network.

Bro@dMAX can be used by operators for reporting, network testing, troubleshooting, customer profiling, and customer care campaigns. Common issues, such as poor connectivity for subscribers in important areas, can be detected and tackled from a whole new angle with Bro@dmax.  This product approaches issues from a quality of experience point of view, and aims to give operators an in-depth look into their subscriber’s behavior to help them make the right decisions.

We recognize that mobile broadband is an industry changing trend and here at Theta Networks we are committed to helping operators deliver the innovative services and achieve the higher revenues now possible with high speed mobility” said Joe Miller, Theta Networks Vice President. “Accordingly, we have dedicated ourselves to this new product, because by facilitating the creation of high-margin broadband services we are helping mobile broadband reach its full potential.”

Theta Networks’ solutions help China Mobile improve their TD-SCDMA network performance

Theta Networks is currently deploying TD-SCDMA monitoring solutions for China Mobile in several major provinces for China Mobile’s newly built 3G TD-SCDMA network.  Theta Networks solutions are capable of network traffic monitoring on TD-SCDMA by analyzing the IuPS interface.  China Mobile will use Theta Networks solutions for the analysis of network performance, connectivity errors in interfaces, user behavior analysis and customer complaint management.

Presently, Theta Networks’ solutions can be implemented in all three types of 3G networks (WDCDMA, TD-SCDMA, and CDMA2000). China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile network with 477.2 million customers as of March 2009, has invested in a TD-SCDMA network, which will likely be the largest 3G mobile network in the world. China Mobile has chosen Theta Networks’ solutions on numerous occasions for their monitoring and security needs.

“We at Theta Networks are proud that we have been able to adapt our solutions to the latest technologies in a timely fashion” said Dawn Fang, Theta Networks VP of China Operations. “We believe that our solutions will allow China Mobile to significantly improve their ARPU as they progress forward with their 3G TD-SCDMA network”.
